Anies Baswedan Orders Investigation After Nightclub Award Mishap

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has ordered an investigation to be held against the Adikarya Wisata 2019 Award board members that nominated and awarded the Colosseum nightclub as one of the award’s winners.
“As of today, Governor Anies Baswedan has ordered the inspectorate, and if violations are found, will enforce sanctions,” said Jakarta administration secretary Saefullah at City Hall on Monday.
In regards to the ongoing investigation, Saefullah says that the board members will be temporarily dismissed from their positions.
“The people involved will be temporarily dismissed as the investigation progresses,” said Saefullah.
Previously announced, the Jakarta administration officially revoked the Adikarya Wisata 2019 award that was won by the nightclub due to one crucial finding; drug abuse activities by nightclub visitors after an operation was held by the Jakarta National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
This finding drove the BNN Jakarta to issue a recommendation letter, urging the Anies Baswedan-led Jakarta administration to revoke Colosseum’s Adikarya Wisata award.
“In the future, the Jakarta administration will hold serious and strict studies on the procedures and scoring criteria before awarding the Adikarya Wisata,” said Saefullah.
