TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta provincial administration announced that it is reviewing the status of Colosseum Club 1001 following a recent finding by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of a possible drug trafficking happening in the location. This is the same nightclub that the city awarded due to its “drug-free environment.”
The official recommendation from BNN is to shutdown Colosseum’s operations after drug abuse was found to take place at the nightclub.
“We will hold a coordination meeting with the provincial BNN (BNNP) and hear what their recommendations are,” said Jakarta administration’s secretary, Saefullah, in a press conference in City Hall on Monday, December 16.
He says city administration will review Colosseum’s violations and if found, will assert sanctions from formal warnings, forced closure, up to permanently revoking its business permit. This is based on the Governor’s Decree No.18/2018 Article 54 (1) on neglectful tourism firms that allow drug trafficking and substance abuse to take place.
Saefullah also announced that it will hold an immediate meeting with the team that handed the Adikarya Wisata award to the nightclub. He says the administration has decided to revoke the award after considering BNN Jakarta’s recommendation.
“Based on that fact, Colosseum’s Adikarya Wisata 2019 award will be revoked,” said Saefullah in the press conference.
