Joko Anwar to Screen Horror Film at Haunted Atoom Theater

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Film director Joko Anwar caused a stir after he announced through his Instagram account about his plans to screen his latest horror movie ‘Perempuan Tanah Jahanam’ (Woman of the Cursed Land) at the abandoned Atoom theater in Bogor. 

The director of Gundala stated in his latest Instagram post; “Okay friends, we will visit the Atoom Theater in Citeureup to see its condition and whether it can be used for a screening of the Perempuan Tanah Jahanam. Stay tuned for further updates,” said the director. 

His announcement was accompanied by several images of the famed abandoned theater that is widely believed to be haunted. Many urban legends can be traced back to this place that was an abandoned field prior to it being a theater. 

A known public figure in the field of supernatural, Sara Wijayanto, testified that the Atoom Theater is one of the most haunted locations she had ever visited. There is also an urban legend stating that the location witnessed an abortion attempt that went wrong.
