TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The state palace witnesses a face-off between female students and policewomen. The Indonesian Students Executive Boards' Alliance (BEM SI) of the Greater Jakarta-Banten region, who are demonstrating in front of the state palace, have female university students as the forefront of their protesters' line.
Meanwhile, the police also placed female officers in the front of the barricade at the Horse Statue area at Medan Merdeka Barat.
"Female friends, please stand at the front to greet our policewomen," BEM SI coordinator Abdul Basyit said from the command car on Thursday, October 17.
The demonstrators initially planned to march towards the closed road border in front of the Tourism Ministry Building, but were blocked by a line of policewomen under the pedestrian bridge. Seeing this, the female students stepped forward to form a line while holding their demand posters.
BEM SI students are demanding President Joko Widodo to create a government regulation in lieu of the KPK Law to cancel the KPK Law revision, which was considered to weaken the anti-graft commission.
