Transportation Minister Predicts Airport Train Passenger Increase

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, said that the number of passengers of the airport train is predicted to increase by 60 percent. This is because there are 34 trips from Manggarai Station to the Soekarno-Hatta airport.
Budi Karya asserted that Manggarai Station is the central station that serves various destinations including Depok, Bogor, and Bekasi. "I think we will intensify here because here in Manggarai is the center. From outside of Jakarta, and from several areas, especially from Depok, Bogor, and Bekasi. For Bintaro and BSD will rendezvous in Tanah Abang or Duri. So I think the station will be concentrated here [in Manggarai]," Budi Karya said.
The trip from Soekarno-Hatta airport to Manggarai station using the airport train was travelled in a relatively short time. "The trip from Manggarai to the airport is also less than one hour, more or less 47 to 50 minutes," Budi said on Saturday, October 5, 2019.
He added that the first train from Manggarai to Soekarno-Hatta airport will be on 5:10 AM Western Indonesia time. Meanwhile, the first train from Soekarno-Hatta airport to Manggarai will depart on 6:20 AM Western Indonesia Time.
As for the last train, it will depart from Mangarai station on 9:40 PM and will depart from Soekarno-Hatta airport on 11:20 PM. Currently, the airport train tariff is still on its discounted price of IDR 40,000.
The entrance to the airport train station in Manggarai is located on the west side of the main access gate, or on Jalan Saharjo I, right beside the train bridge heading to Pasaraya Manggarai. The door was separated because the airport train will be using the westernmost platform 9 and 10.
In addition, airport train passengers will not use the front entrance to avoid being backlogged by train on platform 7, which is known to be very crowded and the crowded passengers' transiting in the station.
Previously, the airport train only reaches up to Sudirman Baru station (BNI City), Duri station, and Batu Ceper station.
