845 Protesters Nabbed in Jakarta Street Protests, Police Reports

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police announced it has arrested 845 protesters during the series of street protests across Jakarta areas at the end of September. They claim to have released 535 of the captured with 310 remaining behind prison cells.
“The Metro Jaya Police arrested 845 people and 535 of them have been freed. The remaining 310 are being processed,” said the National Police’s Spokesman Brig. General Dedi Prasetyo at the police main headquarters on Wednesday, October 2.
This follows reports on the release of nearly 200 students nabbed by the South, North, and Central Jakarta Police sectors. They were released mainly because they are still underage.
Previously, the Commission for Lost People and Victims of Violence Coordinating Deputy, Feri Kusuma, says that finding these missing student protesters pose a challenge and urges the Police institution to be transparent with their handling of the student protesters.
