TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hutama Karya President Director, Bintang Perbowo, stated that the state-owned construction firm will inaugurate the operation of two sections of the Trans Sumatra Toll Roads by the end of 2019.
The two toll sections are Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung stretching 185 kilometers and the 131-kilometer Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road section.
“President Jokowi, in September, is scheduled to inaugurate the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung section which will connect Bakauheni and Palembang,” said Bintang at the Hutama Karya headquarters on Thursday, September 5.
Previously on March, the President inaugurated the 140-kilometer Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll road. The remaining 33 kilometers is managed by another company but is planned to be operational by the end of this year.
Once the Bakauheni-Palembang toll road section is completed by the end of this year, Bintang claims travel time from Bakauheni to Palembang will only take 4 hours covering more or less 365 kilometers. This statistic is a significant improvement to the 10-12 hour travel time it used to be.
Meanwhile, Hutama Karya announced that the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road section will be publicly available and operable by the end of November 2019.
