TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said that the technical team of Novel Baswedan case would cooperate with the Population and Civil Registry Directorate General (Dukcapil) in a bid to reveal the suspect identity of the acid attack against Novel.
“The team will collaborate with Dukcapil to analyze face sketch (of the perpetrator). The more perfect the sketch can be, the more accurate Inafis identifying the suspect,” said Dedi in his office, South Jakarta, Wednesday, July 31.
The Inafis is the National Police's Indonesia Automatic Fingerprint Identification System division.
Dedi believed the investigation with the basic data of Dukcapil could help find the attacker.
Previously, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo gave three months to the police’s technical team to uncover the case. This was shorter than the six-month deadline requested by the police, yet it is subjected to be extended.
According to the President, the team’s work would later be his subject of evaluation to decide the formation of an independent joint fact-finding team.
The police’s technical team comprising 90 members would start work tomorrow, August 1. They are tasked to examine the case from the beginning. Dedi was optimistic that the team increased the possibility of the case disclosure by 60-70 percent.
