TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Sumatra’s Gerindra executive board Nasrul Abit says the party is offering the possibility to establish a coalition with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) for the region’s 2020 Gubernatorial Election.
“Anything is possible in politics especially after a reconciliation was established by central management,” said Nasrul on Sunday upon opening the region’s PDIP regional conference in Padang.
This follows the meeting between PDIP chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri and Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto closed the gap and political tension between the two rival political parties.
“We all wish to develop the nation together for a better future,” said Nasrul.”It’s still in the negotiation stages and still await for the orders from executive board members.”
Meanwhile, PDIP secretary-general Hasto Kristianto said that the political tension in the regional level is far less compared to the national level. “PDIP is open to partnerships with other political parties which share the same goal to improve the people of West Sumatra,” he said.
