TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In opening the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2019) held at the ICE BSD, Tangerang, Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla interestingly said that Indonesia can be considered as a developed country.
However, he interestingly said that the developed status can be seen by the numerous traffic congestions that always form in major cities such as Jakarta.
“Streets are getting congested because of cars, which is caused by economic improvements in Jakarta and other cities. Because only wealthy states can see its residents purchase cars, there are no poor countries in the world where its people buy cars,” said Jusuf Kalla in his welcoming speech today.
The GIIAS that VP Jusuf Kalla introduced marks the 27th time the automotive exhibition and also his countless appearance in the event. “The automotive world has been present in my life for the past 20 years,” he said.
