TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution said that attracting investment should not always be done by releasing new economic policy packages. Investments, he said, can be attracted by perfecting the OSS (Online Single Submission) system.
Speaking at his office in Jakarta, Monday, Darmin said that he is still seeing some obstacles in implementing the OSS.
Among those problems, he said, is the fact that ministries and agencies still have not made the norms, standards, procedures and criteria as they should. Even if they did, Darmin said, the standards are still not meet.
In addition, there are problems at the local government level as well, where all licensing is supposed to be processed at the PTSP, "but they are not," he said.
The minister added that the government is preparing necessary steps to make regional licensing submitted to the PTSP.
On the same day, Bank Indonesia (BI) Senior Deputy Governor Mirza Adityswara said his team had conducted a survey on business actors; seeking their opinions on the 16 economic policy packages that the government had issued over the past five years.
Based on the survey, there are a number of key issues that are still holding back investments. "Issues on licensing, the speed of licensing process and the ease of obtaining permits are still the dominant issues," Mirza said.
