TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police has named National Mandate Party (PAN) legislative candidate Eggi Sudjana as a suspect in his alleged role in mobilizing a "people power" movement against the government.
"That is correct, [Eggi] has been named as a suspect," said Metro Jaya Police Spokesman Grand Commissioner Argo Yuwono in a text message to Tempo on Thursday, May 9, 2019. The Police has scheduled an interrogation session for Eggi on Monday, May 13, 2019.
Eggi's determination as a suspect was announced by Eggi Sudjana's lawyer Pitra Romadoni at the South Jakarta Police Station last night. Pitra also announced that he would visit the Metro Jaya Police headquarters for clarification against Eggi's determination as suspect.
"We will pay a visit to the Metro Jaya Police for further explanation, we are truly disappointed that [Eggi's status as suspect] was done so swiftly," the lawyer said.
Eggi Sudjana was reported to the Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) by Supriyatno, a volunteer for the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin Center (Pro Jomac) for provoking members of the public to mobilize against the government through a "people power" movement.
