Police Foil Attempt to Smuggle Lobster Seeds Worth Rp37 bn

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The authority managed to foil an attempt to smuggle lobster seeds valued at Rp37 billion in Jambi on Thursday, April 18.
"The total value of the lobster seeds worth Rp37.53 billion," said the head of Fish Quarantine and Quality Control (BKIPM) Rina, in the press conference received on Saturday, April 20.
The joint team consisting of Tanjungjabung Timur Police Resort and Station of Fish Quarantine, Quality Control, and Fishery Safety of Jambi, managed to secure 246,673 lobster seeds.
Previously, the police were suspicious of three cars stopped on the road around Lambur Luar Village in Tanjungjabung Timur, on early Thursday, April 18. The car owners ran away when the police approached them aiming to check the cars.
The seeds were wrapped in 1,238 plastic bags that were put inside 35 styrofoam boxes. The perpetrators are still on the run.
