TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesman for Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s campaign team (TKN) Ace Hasan Syadzily said that the West Java region still contributes as one of Indonesia’s provinces with a worryingly rampant spread of hoax and fake information.
This situation, he said, has directly affected Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin’s electability in the region.
Ace revealed that fake rumors of Jokowi legitimizing LGBTQ and same-sex marriages are sentiments highly opposed by West Java residents in the West Java 2 electoral district.

“The use of tactics outside of the rules in regards to the 2019 general election’s campaign is as true as it can get. One of it is what happened in West Java,” said Ace in Jakarta.
Despite the electability stagnation, Ace said that the presidential and VP candidate’s chances in the West Java region have improved after the pair visited the region.
“The trend is seemingly getting more positive because of that, the visit of Pak Ma’ruf Amin and Jokowi to the region and providing clarification to West Java residents,” said Ace.
