KPI: 17 Western Songs Curbed from Being Aired in West Java

26 February 2019 16:45 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java’s Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID Jabar) officially announced a circular to effectively curb the broadcast of 17 western songs containing adult and offensive materials. They also urged these songs to only be aired between 22:00 to 03:00.

“In this case, what is banned is not the songs, but the lyrics of the songs that contain pornography, pornographic association, and obscenity,” said Rahmat Arifin, Central KPI Deputy Chairman today, Feb. 26.

According to Rahmat, the provincial KPI is authorized to issue an official circular letter without pre-coordination with central KPI as long as it adheres to the commission’s rules or P3SPS.

“The circular acts as non-binding guidance and poses no administrative sanctions for any broadcasting institutions. However, not heeding to the public call will result in KPID Jabar handing administration sanctions in accordance with the P3SPS.

The 17 songs targeted by the circular are as follows:

Dusk Till Dawn

Sangria Wine

Mr. Brightside

Let Me

Love Me Harder

Plot Twist

Shape of You

Overdose

Makes Me Wonder

That's What I Like

Fuck it, Don't Want You Back

Bad Things

Versace On The Floor

Midsummer Madness

Wild Thoughts

Till it Hurts

Your Song.
