TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mass Rapid Transit or MRT has inked an agreement with Jayakarta Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya) in light of MRT security on Tuesday, January 22 in Kodam Jayakarta headquarter, East Jakarta.
Kodam Jaya commander May. Gen. Joni Supriyanto said that TNI personnel would guard all vital objects in MRT areas. “I hope TNI will fully contribute in the security measure,” said Joni during his speech.
Joni explained that TNI would review the area of MRT and its objects upon potential disturbance along the route of the train that was named Ratangga.
TNI would also assist MRT to disseminate the transportation which would be opened for the public within the next several months.
MRT president director William Sabandar said that the first MRT project in Indonesia should be succeeded. The MRT's first phase, he added, would run its operation in March 2019.
“We ask for support from Kodam Jaya commander to secure MRT vital objects and this strategic site,” said Sabandar.
He pinned hope the partnership between MRT and Kodam Jaya would generate the public trust on the security of the public transportation. “I invite TNI personnel to attend the trial run of MRT (Wednesday, January 23) to directly witness the train operation,” he said.
