TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police detained the seller of the e-KTP (electronic Identity Card) blanks, Tuesday, December 11. The perpetrator with the initials NI, 27 years old, was arrested in Lampung.
“We have arrested the perpetrator on Monday, December 10,” said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Prabowo Argo Yuwono, when met by the journalists at his office on Tuesday, December 11.
Argo ensured that the perpetrator was the son of an official at the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil), Tulang Bawang, Lampung. NI was arrested after the Ministry of Home Affairs complained about the sales of e-KTP blanks via online stores.
NI sold ten of his father’s e-KTP blanks he had stolen, at a price of Rp50,000 per sheet by using three different online accounts.
The perpetrator is charged with the law of Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE Law) and Population Administration Law. “We are still hunting for other e-KTP dealers,” Argo said.
Argo’s last statement refers to online or direct sales. Tempo has previously found the sales not far from Pramuka market, East Jakarta.
