TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - The manager of Persija Jakarta football club, Ardhi Tjahjoko, coincided with the determination of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) on the suspension of Liga 1 following the tragic death incident of its supporter by Persib Bandung supporters during the 23rd match in Bandung, Sunday, September 26.

“No problem if it [Liga 1] is suspended for the authorities to examine the case,” said Ardhi Wednesday, September 26.

Ardhi mentioned related stakeholders had announced the decision, including the Youth and Sports Ministry and the league operator PT. Liga Indonesia Baru, and PSSI.

“We will follow this instruction. Hopefully, the lesson will be learned and there is a way out,” said the personnel of Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU).

Despite the postponement, the squad coached by Stefano Cuggura Teco would continue the training program in a bid to maintain the athletes' stamina. “The coach will also ask for a trial match to preserve the competition spirit,” he added.

However, he added, his side has not yet discussed the matter with the management considering no club is set as the match opponent for the trial match. Due to the suspension, Persija could not face Perseru Serui at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi on the next Friday.
