TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Alibaba Group CEO Jack Ma will attend the 2018 Asian Games closing ceremony at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium, Jakarta, on September 2. The e-commerce giant confirmed the news.
"We can confirm that Alibaba Group's Executive Chairman Jack Ma will be at the Asian Games closing ceremony," the company spokesman told Tempo on Thursday, August 30.
Jack Ma's visit is a form of appreciation for the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang. An Alibaba Group spokesman also said that his presence is also to support the next Asian Games which would be held in Hangzhou, China in 2022.
The 2018 Asian Games closing ceremony will bring acts from other Asian countries including Korean boy band Super Junior.
"The point is that this is a celebration and the unity of Asian nations. So there will be performers from other countries; Korea, India, and China," INASGOC creative director Wishnutama said during a press conference Monday, August 27.
