TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Jokowi has been in the location of the Lombok earthquake, West Nusa Tenggara, since yesterday, Monday, August 13. He claimed there were still difficulties in handling the earthquake victims.

Jokowi assigned TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto to lead the handling of the isolated earthquake areas in Lombok.

“There are actually four helicopters that can be used,” Jokowi said, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat press release on Monday, August 13.

The following are some difficulties of evacuation in handling the earthquake victims:

1. Wide location and difficult terrain

There are villages where the location to get to the top of Mount Rinjani cannot be reached by motorbikes, let alone cars.

The President ordered TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto to mobilize TNI personnel to enter the isolated areas because the houses and residents were hit by landslides due to the earthquake.

2. Sanitation

President ensured assistance in the form of 200 bathing facilities, washing facilities, and latrines will arrive soon and be installed in a number of evacuation locations.

“As many as 90 facilities have installed,” said President. But that was not enough. President promised to calculate the rest and would send it.

3. Medicine

President Jokowi guarantees that the medicines are well distributed to the victims of the Lombok earthquake. “From the information I received, it is still in good condition,” he said.
