State-owned company Garuda Indonesia.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia is preparing to transfer passengers whose flights are affected by their pilots' strike plan. The airline's official says the flights will be taken over by Citilink, Garuda's LCC subsidiary.

Garuda's Corporate Secretary VP Hengki Heriandono told Tempo here on Tuesday that Citilink's crew members will not be taking part in the strike. Therefore, it is very much possible for CItilink to take over some of Garuda's flights.

According to Hengki, the taking over process can be done if there are passengers who are unable to reschedule their flights with Garuda, whiles Citilink has a similar flight schedule to their original plan with enough capacity.

Every day, Garuda Indonesia serves 600 flights from Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. For this year's Eid peak season, Garuda has added 288 additional flights while Citilink will operate 488.

The transfer of these flights, according to Angkasa Pura II (AP2) VP of Corporate Communication Yado Yarismano, is a way of reducing passenger density in Terminal 3 if a strike occurs; causing flights to be canceled or delayed.
