TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The meeting between Facebook Indonesia and House of Representatives` (DPR) Commission I that was scheduled to take place today, April 11, had been canceled.

Commission I Chairman Abdul Kharis Almasyhari said that the meeting failed to take place because of the social media giant’s high ranking official could not be presented in the hearing.

“Facebook Indonesia was set to present its Southeast Asian high ranking official. However, the official had to accompany other Facebook officials at the United States congressional hearing,” said Abdul Kharis today.

According to Abdul Kharis, Facebook had requested the meeting to be rescheduled to April 17, which will focus on the truth behind the data breach and its effect towards the numerous Indonesian users.

“Is it true it (the data) was breached, and how could it happen?” he asked.

Previously, National Police Spokesman Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasisto said that police have yet found proof of Indonesian Facebook users having their private data breached or stolen.

Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara announced the possibility of the Indonesian government shutting down Facebook’s operation in Indonesia.
