TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi requested that online motorcycle ride-hailing service providers should not only focus its efforts on the vast market share to avoid victimizing the online drivers itself.
“I remind operators to conduct their work with a human approach,” said Budi Karya today.
Budi was concerned about the current tariff imposed on online motorcycle taxi drivers and hopes that the ride-hailing companies should not sacrifice its own employees- or partners according to the companies- for business reasons.
That is the reason why a tariff adjustment must be discussed with every party involved, said Budi. “If we talk about the short term, members of the public are certainly happy with the cheap tariffs. But that kills the earnings of our brothers and sisters working as the drivers of the online taxis services,” said Budi.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya announced that there would be a meeting to take place between online drivers that are scheduled this afternoon that will be attended by the Transportation Ministry, Communication and Informatics Ministry, and the Presidential Chief of Staff.
