Uber Application to be Shut Down on April 8

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Online-based transportation service provider Uber in Southeast Asia will shut down its application following the acquisition to Grab on Monday, March 26.


The acquisition of Uber and Grab would cause Uber user to no longer able accessing the application because in the next two weeks, precisely on April 8, the service will be shut down.

“After the transition completed, all Uber service will be moved to Grab application. However, the user is able to still access Uber in more than 80 countries all over the world,” as the company stated in an electronic message.


According to Uber management, the operational changes will automatically transfer its passenger. In addition to its user, Grab Indonesia Managing Director Ridzki Kramadibrata ensured the transfer process for the driver will run in smooth.

“Our open platform technology able to support the transition process, thus Uber drivers and users easily integrated to Grab,” said Ridzki in a written statement on Monday, March 26.


Rizki explained by adding more driver migrated from Uber, the customer’s need will be fulfilled and they would not have to wait for a long time.


Uber has handed over all its business lines in Southeast Asia to Grab, including Uber Eat which provide a food delivery service.
