Asian Games 2018: Palembang to Provide Free Bus for Journalists

TEMPO.CO, Palembang - As many as 2,000 journalists from national and international media are expected to cover the 2018 Asian Games which will be held in Palembang, South Sumatra, in August. The numbers are fewer than Jakarta reporters who reach up to 3,000 journalists.
Amrullah, Head of Public Information Management, Communications and Informatics Office (Kominfo) of South Sumatra, said that he will prepare a well-equipped Media Center. "We will also provide bus and the drivers for the journalists," he stated on Thursday, February 22.

The bus will be used to drive and pick up journalists from airport to hotel as well as to transport journalists from Media Center to venues in Jakabaring Sports City. The distance between the two areas ranges from 1-2 kilometers.
Meanwhile, Head of Communications and Information Technology (Kominfo) of South Sumatra Province Farhat Sukri said that 18 medium and large-sized buses will be prepared to transport the Asian Games media crew. The bus will be placed at 8 point venues towards Sriwijaya Promotion Center (SPC) and at 10 points in Palembang City to SPC.
In addition to transportation, Farhat also explained that the regional committee will set up internet facilities for 24 hours, computers, and other technologies for the 2018 Asian Games coverage. The facility will be ready to install in May. "A facility for relaxation for our media crews will also be provided," he added.
