TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Head of the Planning and Organization Bureau at the Maritime Security Board (Bakamla) Nofel Hasan admitted guilt after he accepted a bribe in the Bakamla case.

Nofel said that he was forced to do so after he was ordered by his superior, former Bakamla’s Deputy of Information, Legal Affairs, and Partnership Eko Susilo Hadi.

“I initially wanted to reject the money, but I was afraid that I would be scolded by my superior,” said Nofel to the Panel of Judges during a court session at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, February 7.

Nofel admitted that it was impossible for him as an employee to stop the flow of corruption. Nofel was named as a suspect and was guilty of accepting a bribe for Bakamla’s monitoring satellite project valued at Rp220 billion on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. He has allegedly violated Article 12 (a) (b) or Article 11 of the Corruption Eradication Act.

Previously, defendant of the Bakamla bribe Eko Susilo Hadi was convicted to 4 years and 3 months imprisonment after he was found guilty of receiving US$10,000, 10,000 Euros, S$10,000, and US$78,500 from Melati Technofo Indonesia that was related to Bakamla’s satellite monitoring procurement.
