TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Tempo Magazine had just won the Anti-corruption Journalism Award 2017.

A board of jury declared that an investigation article entitled "Obral Izin Sekolah Dokter" (Medical School Permit on Sale) published on Tempo Magazine on Desember 19, 2016 as a winner in a category of in-depth report and investigation.

The article revealed a number of irregularities on issuance of medical school permit by Research and High Education Ministry. The investigation indicated a breach of procedures and nepotism in issuing the permit.

Another investigation report entitled "Pelesiran Gelap Pesakitan Sukamiskin" (Illegal Excursion of Sukamiskin Corruption Convicts) was nominated in the same category. This report revealed a habit of corruption convicts in Sukamiskin Correction Facility in Bandung, West Java, leaving prison to have an excursion. Another nominee for the same category "Keruk Tayan Demi Jakarta" (Dredging Tayan for Jakarta) written by Heriyanto Sagiya from Pontianak Post.

Anti-corruption Journalism Award is held by Indonesia Corruption Watch. In addition to in-depth investigation and report, other categories include caricature, photo, and audio-visual.

Rusman Paraqbueq, Tempo Magazine Editor leading investigation projects of Sukamiskin and medical school permit state that this award can encourage journalists to reveal a number of corruption cases flourishing in this country.

"This award is actually only a bonus for us, journalists. What is important is to reveal corruption cases," Rusman said.
