Garuda Convinced Loss Due Delays will be Compensated by Year-End

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Director of state-owned carrier Garuda Indonesia Pahala N Mansury believes that the loss over the delay of hundreds of flights on early December will be compensated by a surge of flights at the end of the year.
"We have not made the estimation of the loss. It’s not that significant,” Pahala said while visiting Soekarno Hatta Airport on Friday, Dec. 8.

The loss over the delay and reschedule of hundreds of flights, Pahala continued, was caused by the temporary shutdown of Lombok and I Gusti Ngurah Rai airports. This incident trapped 800 cabin and cockpit crews.
"We didn’t predict that the airports would be closed," he said.
Furthermore, Pahala went on, the operating system had a problem due to the massive scale of cancellation and reschedule.
"Our operating system also suffers the impact as since 18 days before we have been running two systems in a parallel manner," he explained.
Pahala said that the insignificant loss will be redeemed by flights at the end of the year. Moreover, he added, Garuda’s On Time Performance (OTP) has returned to normal and even reached 97 percent.
