TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Syahmud Ngabalin, head of politics division at the Functional Group (Golkar) Party’s Youth Wing (AMPG), views Bambang Soesatyo as the perfect candidate to succeed House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto.

“DPR’s Commission III Chairman Bambang Soesatyo is the perfect candidate to be appointed as the DPR Speaker,” Syahmud said in a press release on Tuesday, December 5.

Syahmud added that Bambang would put the institution’s interest above his personal interest. Bambang, he went on, shows exemplary characteristics and communication skills.

“His performance as the chairman of DPR’s Commission III shows that he will be able to establish an effective communication at the legislative institution,” he said.

According to Syahmud, a DPR Speaker must be able to have equal qualities and achievements as shown by Setya. He referred to Setya’s ability to lead the DPR as an institution that makes laws, control policies, and plays a key role in state budget decisions.

[Setya] Novanto has great achievement in the dynamics of the relationship between the parliament and government,” he said.
