Industry Minister Brings in Nagoya Investors to Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto brought in investors from Nagoya, Japan to invest in Indonesia in Indonesia Investment & Business Forum (IIBF) held in Nagoya.


“Nagoya is the largest investor from Japan in Indonesia. There are around 100 companies. Let alone, this city is the center of manufacture in Japan. Therefore, we would like to seek long-term investment cooperation with Nagoya investors,” Airlangga said in Jakarta on Sunday(22/10).


He continued that Japan has been a strategic partner to Indonesia. Japan-Indonesia transaction in the second quarter of 2017 reached $14,8 billion with a 5 percent increase compared to that of the same period in 2016.


Meanwhile, this year, the total Japan investment in Indonesia reaches $17 billion with the primary sectors of automotive industry, electronics, food and beverage.


Before hundreds of Japanese businessmen, Industry Minister stated, Indonesia as is a member ofG20 in which the economy grows 5 percent in the last five years, and it is estimated to skyrocket to reach higher than 5 percent in the next two to three years. “Indonesia is also a country that receives investment grade accreditation from several international institutions,” he explained.
