TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lawyer Eggi Sudjana plans to reprimand the newly elected Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno if they decide to continue the Jakarta Bay reclamation project.
Eggi predicts that Anies-Sandi will not be able to put a halt on the reclamation project, which he views that it is inconsistent with the pair’s initial campaign promise.
“I remember what Anies promised during his campaigns and the public dialogues broadcasted on TV,” said Eggi on Wednesday, October 11. The lawyer threatened to initiate a movement against Anies Baswedan if the new Jakarta Governor is not consistent in stopping the continuation of the reclamation project.

“Would he be bold enough to go against the policy of the central government who revoked the moratorium?” he said. He even went as far to offer himself to be Anies’ lawyer if the Governor ever decides to go legally against the reclamation project.
The Central Government revoked the Jakarta Bay Reclamation moratorium on Thursday, October 5, which was ratified by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. The government considered the previous administrative problems to be over and concluded that the island’s developer has already completed the necessary legal requirements.
