TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) director of investigation Brig. Gen. Aris Budiman filed a report against Tempo Magazine, Koran Tempo, and Tempo.co with the Jakarta Police for an alleged defamation.
Aris views that an article published in Tempo Magazine edition August 28-September 3, 2017, entitled “Penyusup Dalam Selimut KPK” (KPK, the Enemy Within) contains a slander against him. However, Aris did not mention the individual he was reporting against. The Jakarta Police record mentions that the perpetrator is being investigated.
The report was filed on Tuesday night, September 5, at around 9 p.m. In the report, Aris referred to an article published by Tempo, as saying that the KPK is proving the director of investigation for an alleged ethic code violation, namely leaking questioning materials and obstructing the suspect naming of House of Representatives Speaker Setya Novanto in the electronic ID card (e-KTP) graft case.
Aris also questioned the content of an opinion column in the Tempo Magazine on page 29 saying that seven KPK investigators, including the director of investigation, met House members in relation to the e-KTP graft case. On page 32, Tempo’s article mentions that KPK investigators asked Rp2 billion from House members to escape from the investigation.
“The victim as the KPK’s director of investigation felt that he was disadvantaged and filed the report with the Jakarta Police,” a Jakarta Police staff, who received the report, said.
