TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Agus Rahardjo said that the agency will issue an official stance on the right of inquiry special committee in the near future. The KPK has earlier received inputs from constitutional law experts over the issue.
“We will examine the situation, tomorrow morning [today] the five of us, the leadership, have agreed to take a stance.” Agus Rahardjo told Tempo yesterday after sharing fast-breaking meals with the House of Representatives’ (DPR) Legal Commission in Jakarta.

Agus explained that, following the inputs from experts, the KPK leadership will hold talks whether to attend the meetings with the special committee upon invitation.
The special committee for the right of inquiry against the KPK has been launched and meetings have been held. At the latest meeting yesterday, the committee had planned to summon a witness in the electronic identity card (e-KTP) graft case named Miryam S. Haryani.

According to Agus Raharjo, the summons would not be necessary. He suggests the committee awaits the trial process to hear the recordings of interrogation over intimidation against Miryam allegedly committed by the DPR’s Legal Commission members.
The special committee views that Miryam’s statement would be needed as a preliminary testimony. It reasoned that Miryam’s statement made to the KPK is the reason behind the proposal of the right of inquiry. In her questioning as a witness in the e-KTP graft case, Miryam claimed that she was being intimidated by six of her fellow house members. She later denied her testimony despite testifying under oath as a suspect.
The right of inquiry special committee chairman Agun Gunanjar said that the inquiry will not only question the recording of interrogations. It will also probe alleged budgeting irregularities based on the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) report.
