TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police said that they would not question Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab’s move to ask for a protection from the United Nations Human Rights Commission in relation to his pornography case.

“It’s their right if they want to ask help from the UN,” National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Setya Wasisto on Thursday, May 18, 2018.

Setyo added that the National Police will respect Rizieq and his legal team’s decision to ask for a protection from UN.

Setya revealed that National Police has not received a confirmation from investigators whether Rizieq has been listed in Interpol’s blue notice.

“It’s the investigator’s right to ask for an assistance from Interpol in France through the National Central Bureau in Jakarta,” Setya explained.

The inclusion of Rizieq Shihab in the Interpol’s Blue Notice can be conducted as long as he is still considered as a witness in the case. Should Rizieq be named as a suspect, he would be included in a Red Notice.

Setya called Rizieq to attend police questioning so that he can clarify or defend himself against the allegation.

“He should attend [the questioning] and clarify that he was not involved [in the case]. It’s his right to defend himself. He gives us no options if he refuses to do so,” Setya said.
