Banyumas Police Arrest Two Human Traffickers

TEMPO.CO, Banyumas - Banyumas Police Criminal Task Force arrested two people alleged to commit human traficking (TPPO), Banyumas Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Azis Andriansyah said.


"Two suspects we arrested were DNS (36) and AL (34). Both are residents of Wanasari, Brebes District. DNS plays a role as “daddy” (male pimp), while Al serves as “mommy” (female pimp)," he said through Banyumas Police chief of criminal department Adj. Comr. Junaedi in Purwokerto, Banyumas district on Saturday (22/4).


The arrest was based on information that there was human trafficking in one of karaoke bars in Purwokerto. The police then followed up the report by conducting an investigation to the karaoke bar.


The police then brought in nine female victims employed as lady escorts and arrested two suspects and some evidence, Junaedi explained.


He further added that the suspects have violated Article 2 clause 1 of Law No. 21/2007 on Human Trafficking Eradication which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years of imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp 600 million.
