TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry has set four regulations on ride-hailing services.
“Firstly, to limit the number of vehicles of online-based [transportation],” Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said in Medan on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.
Secondly, according Budi Karya, to set both price ceiling and floors. Thirdly, to impose taxes on online-based transportation firms. Fourthly, mandatory establishment of a legal entity to run online-based transportation services.
Budi Karya added that local governments reserve the right to propose their own regulations on online-based transportation companies for government approval.
The regulations are issued to protect passenger safety and security, among others. “In view of the regulations, online-based transportation business is expected to run smoother,” Budi Karya said.
