Police Arrests Indonesians Involved Malaysian Kidnapping

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police (Polri) spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said that Polri, in collaboration with the Malaysian Police, has arrested six Indonesians allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a Malaysian named Ling Ling. The arrests were made after police captured six Malaysians allegedly involved in a robbery and kidnapping of the same victim.


Boy explained that the National Police arrested the six suspects on Monday, March 20, 2017, at 05:15 AM in Batam. Police also managed to save and free the victim.


"Malaysian Police investigators informed [about the case] to the Criminal Investigation Corps. We later formed a task force. It was found that Indonesians were involved in the kidnapping," Boy said at his office in Jakarta on Monday, March 20, 2017.


The six Indonesians are Puncayadi Saleh, Antanassius, David, Hartadi and Baltasar. Boy revealed that the suspects are still being interrogated. Meanwhile, Ling Ling has been returned to Malaysia to see her family.


Boy revealed that the kidnapping took place on February 21, 2017. Ling Ling was kidnapped in Johor by six Malaysians before being brought to Batam. Police found Ling Ling in a good condition and provide medical checkup before being returned to Malaysia.


The National Police and the Malaysian Police are still hunting the mastermind of the kidnapping, known only as Wak Lan.


"The mastermind is a Malaysian named Wak Lan," Boy said.
