Adhi Karya to invest in LRT

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has instructed ministries and local governments to accelerate the development of Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi) area, Bandung and Palembang.

"We want to speed up LRT development, whether in Jakarta, Jabodetabek, Palembang and Bandung. So we can finish it all," Jokowi said in a LRT development meeting at the State Palace on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

Jokowi said that LRT development in Jabodetabek and Palembang has already begun, and added that he had instructed LRT development in Jakarta to begin as soon as possible. Jokowi also asked all modes of public transportation systems, including LRT, MRT and the currently developed high-speed train to be integrated with one another.

"We expect [LRT] to intersect with flyover, and maybe LRT and MRT track can be aligned, we hope everything can be integrated" said Jokowi.
