Indonesia Beat India to Progress to Badminton Asia Team Final

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia pulled off a dramatic win over India in the Semi Final of the Hyderabad Badminton Asia Team Championship 2016 on Saturday.


Indonesia lost the first match when Sriakanth Kidambi beat Tommy Sugiarto 21-14, 23-25, 21-9.


However, Indonesia took the second match through its doubles pair Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan by beating Indian doubles pair Manu Attri-Sumeeth Reddy 11-21, 10-21 and leveled the tie at one match all.


Indonesia’s second Men Single player Ginting Anthony then put on a brilliant display and beat Indian world No 25 Ajay Jayaram 15-21, 20-22.


Indonesia confirmed a place in the Final after the country’s second Men’s Double Pair Angga Pratama-Ricky Karanda Suwardi trounced Indian Pair Pranaav Jerry Chopra-Akshay Dewalkar 13-21, 21-18, 15-21.


In the Final, Indonesia is up against Japan, who beat South Korea 3-0 in the Semi Final.
