TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has four of its mixed-double shuttlers sit in the world’s top 15 with ace Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir being the best to sit as the world’s number 2. Indonesia alongside China become the only countries in the world to achieve such milestone.

Other Indonesian mixed-double shuttlers at the top 15 are Praveen Jordab/Debby Susanto (ninth place), Ricky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili (11th place) and Edi Subaktiar/gloria Emanuelle Widjaja (12th place).

The success is said to be the result of Richard Mainaky’s hand as the national coach. Richard humbly commented that team and officials at the Indonesian Badminton Federation (PBSI) have been a great support to him and a crucial factor for the success.

“With the current management, we have succeed in putting four pairs in the world’s top 15,” Richard told Badmintonindonesia.org.

This is a sign of a good change in the team. Regeneration is working well.”

However, Richard said he won’t stop here. He is determined to make five pairs of Indonesian shuttlers sitting in the world’s top 20.
