Compensation Disbursement for Mudflow Victims Resumes

TEMPO.CO, Sidoarjo - The Sidoarjo Mudflow Handling Agency (BPLS) has continued disbursing compensation for Lapindo mudflow victims. The agency on Friday sent 468 files to the national treasury office in Jakarta.
“468 files will be sent with nominal value of Rp82.3 billion,” said BPLS spokesperson Dwinanto Hesti Prasetyo on Thursday.
Referring to the first phase of compensation disbursement on Friday last week, after the files are sent to the national treasury office, on the same day of file delivery, disbursement can be done through the victims’ accounts.
In the first disbursement, BPLS sent 285 files with nominal value of Rp734 billion. The files were sent during the day and by afternoon, compensation for the victims had entered their accounts.
The total files that must be disbursed are 3,331 files with nominal value of Rp781 billion. Before being sent to the national treasury office, the files are validated by BPLS.
