Indonesia Won 1 Gold, 3 Bronze At The BWF World Championship

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia won one gold and three bronze medals at the BWF World Badminton Championship 2015 which was held at the Senayan stadium, Jakarta, 10-16 August 2015.


The World Champion title was gained by top Indonesian men's doubles Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan. Hendra/Ahsan, ranks world number three, won the title after beating Chinese couple Liu Xiaolong/Qiu Zihan with a score of 21-17, 21-14.


Hendra/Ahsan re-embrace the World Champion title that previously they achieved in 2013.


While the three bronze medals were obtained by mixed doubles Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir, women's doubles Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and women's singles Lindaweni Fanetri.


Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana failed to secure a ticket to the finals after losing the rubber set in a fierce battle over Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei with a score of 22-20, 21-23, 12-22.


In the women's doubles Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari lost to Chinese couple Zhao Yunlei/Tian Qing with a score of 21-8, 21-16.


In the women's singles, Lindaweni Fanetri lost 17-21, 17-21 of Indian player Saina Nehwal. In the match, Linda had to face the world second ranked player with a foot injury.
