TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel said that the Japanese government had given another offer of the Shinkansen bullet train to be operated in Indonesia.

The train is expected to be used to serve Jakarta–Bandung route.

The offer was one of the results of Gobe’s working visit to Japan on August 4 to 5.

According to Gobel, Japan has expressed its interest to undertake the Shinkansen project and has also conducted a feasibility study with lower cost of financing as well as with the development of human resources.

“Provision of goods are mostly from Indonesia and transfer of technology is for Indonesia,” Gobel said in a press release on Sunday (9/8).

Gobel further said that the offers were conveyed by a Special Adviser to the Japanese Prime Minister Hiroto Izumi, Senior Managing Director of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Tadashi Maeda, and Vice President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Kiyoshi Kodera.
