TEMPO.CO, Palembang - Construction of the Palembang-Tanjung Api Api toll road section in South Sumatra is made a priority as it would provide access to ocean going port, Minister of Public Works Basoeki Hadimoeljono said on Thursday, July 30, 2015.

"It is in line with the presidents instruction that toll road to ports has to be a priority in development," the minister said in Palembang.

He said, toll road construction work leading to the Tanjung Api Api port is planned to start in 2016.

This year the Public Works Ministry would build the toll road section linking Palembang and Indralaya, in the regency of Ogan Ilir in preparation for Asian Games to be held in South Sumatra, he said.

Earlier, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin said currently preparation including feasibility study is being carried out for the Palembang - Tanjung Api Api toll road that construction could start in 2016.

Alex said the project is important as Tanjung Api Api has been determined and will be developed as special economic area, and a modern seaport would be built there.

The provincial administration is set to carry out the mega project as scheduled, he added.
