TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To continue its service for passengers that was earlier delayed due to a fire at JW Sky Lounge in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, PT Garuda Indonesia operated two Boeing 747-400 airplanes with a capacity of 450 passengers each.

“It’s equal to four Garuda Indonesia’s regular flights,” PT Garuda Indonesia spokesperson M. Ikhsan Rosan, told Tempo on Sunday, July 5, 2015.

Ikhsan said that the first 747-400 flew from Cengkareng to Surabaya at 12.30 p.m., while the other was operational at 2.00 p.m. carrying passengers from Soekarno-Hatta to Denpasar.

“The flights to the two cities are quite packed,” Ikhsan said.

Ikhsan explained that the measure was taken to reduce passenger buildup at Terminal 2 of the airport. The buildup occurred after dozens of domestic and international flights were delayed since morning.

PT Angkasa Pura II corporate secretary Agus Haryadi said the operation of the two Boeings had been agreed in a meeting between Angkasa Pura II board of directors, Garuda Indonesia and the Transportation Ministry.
