TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eddy Kurniawan, Head of the Association for Indonesian Naval Industries (Iperindo), said that the national naval industry needed support that could drive development in this industry, namely financial support from the government.
"[For naval loans] in Indonesia the interest is 13 percent, in Korea, China, and Japan the interest is very low. In china for instance the interest is five to six percent." Eddy said in Jakarta on Monday, June 29, 2015.
With lower interest, Eddy continued, the need for importing ships will decrease.
Minister of Industry Saleh Husin said that the request for naval financial support is one of the things that would be discussed in the round table meeting with the president.
