TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 24th World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEF-EA) is held on April 19-21. This the second time Indonesia is chosen to host the forum with the first in 2011.
“This forum is an opportunity for the new Indonesian government to promote vision and mission as well as economic programs,” said Coordinating Economy Minister Sofyan Djalil on Monday.
The forum, themed “Anchoring Trust in East Asia’s New Regionalism”, will be attended by around 700 participants from more than 40 countries, including CEOs , heads of companies as well as 40 ministers and representatives from international organizations.
Three pillars will be the main topics in the 2015 WEF-EA. First, potential solution to face social challenges.
Second, economic discussion on opportunities and disruption of economic growth in East Asia. “Technological innovation, impact from ASEAN Economic Community or environmental sustainability,” said Sofyan.
Third, discussion on regional cooperation and political pressure that hampers growth.
Investment Coordinating Board chief Franky Sibarani said the 2015 WEF-EA is a good opportunity to promote bureaucracy reform in investment, especially after the implementation of the one-stop integrated service (PTSP).
“This system offers quick, easy, transparent and integrated investment licensing service which allows investors to monitor their licensing application progress,” he said.
