TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of Judicial Commission members at the House of Representatives (DPR) questioned the selection process of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leaders. They urged the selection process to be restarted due to transparency issues.

"There has to be a reselection," Wihadi Wiyanto, member of the Judicial Commission from the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Faction during a hearing session with the Justice Ministry on Monday, November 24, 2014.

Another Judicial Commission Member from the National Mandate Party (PAN) Faction, Ali Umri, raised a similar concern, arguing that the selection process was under former Justice Minister Amir Syamsudin's authority.

In addition to highlighting the selection process, the Judicial Commission also questioned the small number of the candidates. Member of the Functional Group (Golkar) Party Faction, John Kennedy Azis, argued that the KPK leadership selection process was not well disseminated.

Earlier in October, the KPK leadership selection committee submitted two names screened from 104 candidates when Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was still serving as the president. The two names was to be selected by the House of Representatives as Busyro Muqoddas' successor.
