TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprise Minister Rini Mariani Soemarno has asked PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and Transportation Ministry to finish the port railway project. She said that there is yet any further clarification upon the project.
Rini has previously asked officials in charge of the project to deliver a report. Given the not-yet-clear exposition, Rini paid a visit to Tanjungh Priok, only to find that one track is yet completed.
Former Minister Dahlan Iskan had authorized PT KAI as an administrator of Tanjung Priok Port railroad. The construction stands as a response to Ahok’s request for a railway in the port to help disperse traffic.
PT KAI Director Edi Sukmoro said that the construction has been planned for a while. "It will soon be completed. Hopefully, next year it can operate," he said.
