TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Deputy Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama were scheduled to meet with the state railway firm (PT KAI) on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at the City Hall.

PT KAI President Director Ignasius Johan said the meeting was to discuss the permit of a railway network construction connecting Dukuh Atas Station and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Ignasius added that PT KAI was planning to build a special airport train station between Dukuh Atas and Karet Stations, located in front of Shangri-La Hotel. Therefore, Ignatius said, the road near the station construction needed to be expanded.

“The road at Teluk Betung needs to be expanded. We need to match between the road expansion and the station construction plans,” Ignasius said.

Ella Ubaidi, head of conservation and heritage assets at PT KAI, said the Jakarta administration had approved the permit of the airport railway construction. Ella revealed that the construction process is currently ongoing.

“The railway is located in Jakarta. So, its permit, design and function needs to be approved,” Ella said.
